The CEA Card is a national card scheme developed for UK cinemas by the UK Cinema Association (UKCA).  The scheme was introduced in 2004 and is one of the ways for participating cinemas to ensure they make reasonable adjustments for disabled guests when they go to the cinema; in particular it ensures a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them. The CEA Card allows you to obtain ONE free ticket for the person who is accompanying you to enable you to visit the cinema, by providing the assistance you require as a result of your disability, provided you purchase an applicable full price ticket for yourself for the same performance of the same film in the same auditorium. The free ticket is provided on the assumption that the person who accompanies you is able to provide you with appropriate assistance. Please visit the website for more details.

Our StoryFledglings is part of the national charity, Contact. We are a non-profit shop that helps children and adults with additional needs by supplying products and equipment that help with everyday challenges. We provide an easy and trusted environment to find the right solutions and allow people to connect and share their experiences. Fledglings was born in 1998 out of founder Ruth Lingard’s passion and drive to help parents and carers of children with special needs find simple solutions to everyday challenges they face. As a special needs teacher and social worker, Ruth had a wealth of experience helping families and children, and Fledglings gave her an opportunity to reach more people in need. In February 2019, Fledglings joined Contact, the charity for families with disabled children. Like Fledglings, Contact was founded by families of disabled children, who recognised that even if their child's conditions were different, they shared a common experience - of being a family with a disabled child. They understood how important it is to support each other. Timetables to help give structure and consistency. The visuals we create can be used in most situations, are adaptable and portable.

Healthy Start helps you give your family the very best start in lifeIf you are pregnant or have a child under four years old you could get Healthy Start vouchers to help buy some basic foods. This important means-tested scheme provides vouchers to spend with local retailers. Pregnant women and children over one and under four years old can get one £4.25 voucher per week. Children under one year old can get two £4.25 vouchers (£8.50) per week.The vouchers can be spent on:<ul><li>plain cow’s milk – whole, semi-skimmed or skimmed. It can be pasteurised, sterilised, long life or UHT</li><li>plain fresh or frozen fruit and veg (fruit and vegetables with no added ingredients), whole or chopped, packaged or loose</li><li>infant formula milk that says it can be used from birth and is based on cow’s milk.</li></ul>Healthy Start vitaminsWomen and children getting Healthy Start food vouchers also get vitamin coupons to swap for free Healthy Start vitamins. Healthy Start vitamins are specifically designed for pregnant and breastfeeding women and growing children.Your midwife or health visitor will be able to tell you where you can swap your coupon for vitamins in your area.

We provide practical support to children aged from birth to 16 years, living across Tyne &amp; Wear and County Durham who are experiencing poverty and hardship. We believe that every child deserves the best start and that by reusing the items children have outgrown, we can maintain a circular economy to support those who need it most. Our mission is to help relieve poverty and hardship in babies, children and those who care for them by providing essential items, equipment and support to partner organisations and those in need.  We want to ensure every child has the opportunity to be happy, safe and to thrive.We work on a referral basis meaning we do not accept self referrals, or requests from families or friends. Professionals supporting families in an official capacity can make a referral on their behalf.

Welcome to The Chronicle Sunshine Fund! The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a local northeast charity that provides specialist and adapted equipment to children aged 0-19 living with disabilities, additional needs, chronic and terminal illness. The types of equipment we can fund are not available through statutory services like the Local Authority or NHS; yet they are vital to the daily life of our Sunshine kids. These specific pieces of equipment enrich quality of life for not only the children, but their wider families and communities.
