Disability Employment Advisers (DEA) work for Job Centre Plus and help people, whose disability or health condition is preventing them from obtaining work.  A DEA will know about disability friendly employers in your area. Criteria for access DEA is available via Job Centre Plus, using the contact details given. Universal services DEA is a universal service but eligibility criteria apply.

Disability Employment Adviser (Jobcentre Plus)

The Military Preparation College (MPC) is a unique training college that helps 16-19 year olds develop their fitness, vocational qualifications, and employability skills to help prepare for employment, including rewarding careers in the British Armed Forces. Each Military Preparation College forms part of a network of over 20 colleges across England and Wales. The unique active learning curriculum inspires students to achieve their personal best with 50% of every day spent learning outdoors or taking part in physical training. The MPC curriculum has been designed to develop our students’ physical fitness, essential skills and self-confidence. The college operates a ‘roll on, roll off’ joining process with no set deadline by which to apply, allowing new recruits to join on a weekly basis.

The National Apprenticeship (NAS) supports, funds and co-ordinates the delivery of Apprenticeships throughout England.  NAS are responsible for increasing the number of Apprenticeship opportunities and providing a dedicated, responsive service for both employers and learners.  This includes simplifying the process of recruiting an apprentice through Apprenticeship vacancies. This is an online system where employers can advertise their apprenticeship job vacancies and potential apprentices can apply. Young people with a learning difficulty and / or disability may want to look at apprenticeships in conjunction with face-to-face help from someone professionally qualified to give careers information, advice and guidance.

National Apprenticeships Service (NAS)

Work Choice is a voluntary employment programme that provides support to disabled people facing barriers to getting and keeping a job. The type of support offered is different for everyone but can include training and developing your skills, building self confidence and interview coaching. Criteria for access Help from work choice is available for people over 16 years of age and have left school or college and are disabled.  Work Choice is accessible through contacting a Disability Employment Adviser (DEA) Universal service - Work Choice is a universal service provided by the Department for Work and Pensions but eligibility criteria apply.

Work Choice (DWP)

We offer accommodation, support and education to the homeless aged 16 to 35 in a residential project and in dispersed outreach properties across the City.  There is also an on-site training and computer suite and an offer of a Job Club, Employability and Work Ready courses, issue based drop-in sessions, including sexual health sessions, peer education etc and also a Volunteer Project.  We also facilitate a multi-agency drug and alcohol clinic, undertake family mediation and various accredited and unaccredited educational courses at all levels.
