We offer a confidential information, advice and support service to carers throughout the City of Sunderland.
A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness or disability. This includes parents and carers of disabled children aged under 18.
We provide the following services:
Information and advice
One-to-one support
Support to carers at meetings with health, social services, education and other agencies
Support groups
Dementia Dial in for Sunderland Carers
Courses on a range of carer-related subjects
Social activities to give carers a break from their caring responsibilities
Opportunities to give carers a voice in order to influence policy and service development
Carers Breaks and Opportunities Scheme
Support and activities for young carers (children looking after a family member)
Criteria for access Carers can contact the Centre directly themselves or someone else can contact the Centre on their behalf (with the carer's permission).
Targeted services Services can be accessed by all carers.
