Katie has 16 years experience as a Nursery Nurse (Snr) and holds a NNEB Diploma, also having attended First Aid, Childminder and Safeguarding courses.

She has worked in Nurseries across Newcastle and the Sunderland area, from private to Sure Start settings. 

Katie has worked with children from 5 months – 8 years and covered the EYFS, observing the children and planning for each individual child, extending their learning by introducing words, objects and resources during play and changing toys or visiting our environment so children can experience and explore safely.

Katie has had input with children in Social Care and worked closely with Health Visitors, Social Workers, Family Support, etc and helped parents/carers on certain subjects, ie behaviour, healthy eating, social behaviour and interacting, this has not only helped them but also their child (praises and certificates).

Katie does lots of messy play (from a young age) and has a good selection of resources from sensory baskets, building blocks, sand/ water, painting etc

Daily diaries are used for younger children, these get passed to parents at the end of each session. Katie carrys outlearning journals with lots of photos showing you how they are having fun ! (these are yours to keep)

Katie uses text messaging during the day for reassurance to parents and the odd photos.

Sleep cushions are available for children who need a sleep, also a travel cot for younger children in a quiet room.

Katie also visits Children's Centre settings, toddler groups, parks,  beach and the shops on a daily basis, using double pushchair, buggy boards or reins depending on ability.

Drinks and snacks are included in the fee. Breakfast and tea is an extra charge. Parents supply hot/cold pack lunch.
