Doxford Park is 24 acre natural habitat park steeped in history. Originally the private gardens of Charles Doxford and his daughter Aline. Upon her death in 1968 the grounds were bequeathed to the community of Sunderland. In 1969 the park was opened to the public and is to this day.
The Friends charity was established in April this year and its aim is to the upkeep of the park, preserving the heritage and natural habitat for the whole community. We are a small growing charity and are always looking out for volunteers.
The park itself is one of the smallest parks within Sunderland and with its links to the history of Sunderland its one of the most valuable. With your help we will achieve bringing the park back to the heart of the community.
