Play Space and Sensory Room

Meet with an Active Sunderland community worker who is able to offer support and advice around nutrition and physical activity, offering one to one support. Useful resources will be provided as well as sign posting to pre, post natal and family programmes. Information will be provided on Active Sunderland holiday activities. Practical sessions around snack making for families and cooking on a budget. Email for more information.

Busy Bodies – 18 months + @ Southwick community centre A music and movement session to work on physical skills, while also encouraging young children to learn sounds, words, and patterns.

The Tobacco Dependence Service is an NHS service which provides a weekly clinic at Family Hubs for pregnant people who would like support to quit smoking from friendly advisors. The first appointment is for an hour and follow up appointments are half an hour. Referral method: You need to be referred by your midwife, preferably at your booking appointment but we would also support you if you were referred after then too.

Referral only speak to the family hub or Sunderland City Council Welfare Rights Service - Welfare right service offers and gives Specialist Benefits Advice, including Employment Law to people who live in Sunderland and the surrounding areas.  The advice given covers a range of benefits for people that may have physical or mental health conditions.  People aged 16 and over.  Who may get support from Adult Social Care.  Children with disabilities and their Carers.  Unpaid Carers and young people Leaving Care.  A person who may have a critical illness or with sensory impairment(s) or has been offered a job and requires a “better off calculation”.

Review and development clinics within Sunderland. All are appointment only clinic which are bookable via a HV or our Duty Practitioner, however, need to have a clinical need behind the attendance (as apposed to a parent just wanting to know a weight)Appointments are currently 10 min slots, however, this is currently under review.

Stay and play – 0-5 years Come along and have fun with your little one whilst socialising with parents. Each week we will have a themed activity for example, books, messy play, and everyday opportunities.

Move to rhyme is an interactive session for mobile babies and their parents / carers until around the age of 18 months. Sessions are based around sharing nursery rhymes, action songs, musical instruments, and books.

Come and join us at one of our breastfeeding groups to chat, share experiences and advice about your breastfeeding journey with other mothers. There is no need to book simply drop into any of the session

Kids alive is a group ran during term time for 5-11 year olds, offering a range of activities including arts, crafts and sports. Contact the Salvation Army for more information.
